At Truwood, we recognise that our business has an impact on the environment and are therefore committed to helping protect it as much as we can.
As part of this commitment, Truwood became FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certified in 2014 meaning that all wood we use is 100% responsibly sourced via chain of custody certification.
FSC Chain of Custody Certification
FSC works to take care of our forests and those who rely on them: by protecting plant and animal species, indigenous people’s rights, forest workers’ safety and much more. Through FSC certification, they’re helping to ensure that forests around the world are responsibly managed.
FSC chain of custody certification: applies to businesses that manufacture or sell forest products and confirms that FSC-certified material is handled and tracked correctly throughout the entire supply chain.
PEFC Chain of Custody Certification
PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system. Like FSC, their standards seek to transform the way forests are managed to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer.
To provide assurances that wood and wood-based products originate from sustainably managed forests, PEFC Chain of Custody certification also outlines requirements for tracking certified material from the forest to the final product - ensuring that the wood contained in the product or product line originates from certified forests.
Being chain of custody certified by FSC and PEFC has enabled Truwood to satisfy LEED and other environmental performance accreditations as well as positively contributing in helping us reduce our carbon footprint.
